Mozart Groove

This Week —

We’re listening to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

W. A. Mozart is the absolute BOSS MAN in the classical music genre. In the 35 years that he graced the world with his presence, this dude wrote SO. MUCH. MUSIC. He’ll show up in many of our future playlists because, seriously, life is just better when you're jamming out to Mozart. So let’s commence with some of my favorite pieces.

Listen To —

This Mozart playlist comes in handy for when your kids are otherwise engaged in activities, like having a playdate or going to town on the magnetic tiles. Most of these tunes will get your kids energized and happy but not bouncing off the walls. As an added bonus, it'll also elevate your mood—no wine necessary. 😉

Name it to own it —

Here’s a very important tidbit that will carry throughout your child’s music-listening years: always remind your kiddos of the names of composers, instruments, or musicians they are listening to (choose whichever element is easiest to remember). In addition, if your child’s music is “her music” and everything else is “Mom’s music” she won’t want to listen to anything other than “her music”. Children want to have ownership and control—so instead of saying, “Let’s listen to Mommy’s music now,” try saying, “This is Mozart!” or “This is the violin!” or “This is Pavarotti!” With repetition, they’ll come to remember specific names, feel ownership in the music, and ask for it again. You can apply this to any kind of music you listen to at home. Enjoy!
